Possis Gets Play in Strib

The Star Tribune ran a piece over the weekend about drug-device combos. It focused on Coon Rapids, Minnesota (a Minneapolis suburb)-based Possis Medical, a device company whose technologies focus on removing intra-vascular blood clots, and its AngioJet clot-busting device. Reporter Janet Moore speaks of “a popular mantra in medical technology circles: Combining drugs and devices — such as drug-coated heart stents and insulin-delivery diabetes pumps — as a powerful (and potentially lucrative) means of therapy.” According to the article, if Possis could convince docs to use its AngioJet system in just 10 percent of the 600,000 DVT cases reported each year, it’d bank $90 million in additional revenue.
