Description |
| Ivivi Technologies uses advances in electromagnetic technology to design, develop and market non-invasive electrotherapy devices for diverse markets. The company's proprietary technologies and research are currently targeted at the wound, post-surgical, pain and related markets, with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease. |
 |
| Products / Services |
Ivivi's electroceuticals (coils and generators) are designed for maximum efficacy, comfort and ease of use in a variety of applications, including chronic wounds, pain and edema following plastic and reconstructive surgery and chronic inflammatory disorders. The company's SofPulse system is comprised of light-weight, conformable applicators designed for the faster resolution of challenges. All of Ivivi's products are non-invasive, can be applied through dressings or clothing and are activated simply with an 'on' button. No complex setup or adjustments are necessary.

 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| Ivivi's research and development activities are focused specifically on targeted pulsed electromagnetic field (tPEMF) technology. By creating a therapeutic electrical current in injured soft tissue, tPEMF modulates biochemical and physiological healing processes to help repair the injured tissue and to reduce related pain and inflammation. There is also accumulating and substantial clinical evidence that targeted PEMF therapy can have physiologically significant effects on tissue growth and repair through demonstrated acceleration of normal growth factor production. Ivivi's technology is drug-free, easy to apply and has an excellent safety profile. |
 |
| Market / Customers |
Since the original SofPulse was introduced, the medical device has delivered over 600,000 treatments without adverse events since the mid 1990s. The SofPulse is intended for use by nursing staff, physical therapists, and rehabilitative specialists. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Arthritis Data Workgroup, nearly one in five U.S. adults, or 46.4 million people, have arthritis. It is currently the nation's most common cause of disability, with osteoarthritis being the primary form of the disease.

 |
| Status |
| On August 25, 2008, Ivivi Technologies announced that patient enrollment had been initiated at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan for a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study on the efficacy of tPEMF for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The company's other recent clinical studies have shown significant reductions in anginal pain and pain after breast augmentation surgery, as well as increases in blood flow to the heart in certain cardiac patients. |
