|
 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| Product candidates offer enhanced pain relief, fewer adverse side effects and faster relief of pain compared to other currently available treatments. Javelin's product candidates address the acute moderate-to-severe pain medication market segment. They are developing differentiated pain control products that provide the flexibility and versatility required to address the limitations of existing prescription pain medications in supervised health care settings. Indications under development include post-operative pain, orthopedic injury pain, procedural pain, burn pain and trauma. Currently available formulations of the popular drug diclofenac are insoluble in water. Javelin has successfully improved the solubility of diclofenac by the addition of hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-CD) allowing for the creation of a proprietary injectable formulation that can efficiently deliver the drug to the patient's bloodstream. |
