Description |
| Somanetics develops, manufactures and markets the INVOS Cerebral Oximeter, a non-invasive patient monitoring system that continuously measures changes in the blood oxygen level in the brain.
|
 |
| Products / Services |
The INVOS Cerebral Oximeter, an oxygen monitoring system, consists of SomaSensors, an INVOS monitor display and related accessories. The CorRestore System is used in cardiac repair and reconstruction and is well suited for Surgical Ventricular Restoration (SVR).

 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| The INVOS Cerebral Oximeter is a non-invasive system that continuously monitors the balance between oxygen delivery and cerebral consumption by observing changes in regional saturation of oxygen within a sample of blood in the cerebral cortex. The measurement is made by transmitting and detecting harmless, low intensity and near infrared light through SomaSensors. In November 2005, Somanetics received FDA approval to market the INVOS System to monitor blood oxygen saturation in somatic tissue. This new application is intended as an adjunct trend monitor of hemoglobin oxygen saturation of blood in skeletal muscle tissue in patients at risk for restricted blood flow.
The CorRestore System is used for all types of cardiac repair and reconstruction. Its primary component, the CorRestore Patch, is designed to fill the irregular contours of a trabeculated endocardium in order to guard against leaking and provide reproducible restoration. |

| Market / Customers |
The INVOS System is used in hospital care areas, including operating rooms, recovery rooms, ICUs and emergency rooms. It is sold in the U.S. and internationally. The System is used by cardiac, cardiovascular and vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and perfusionists in the U.S. and internationally.

| Strategy |
Somanetics plans to launch the INVOS System into the neonatal ICU in late 2006. The company is currently running a clinical trial evaluating the use of the INVOS System on diabetic patients over the age of 50. Pending successful results, the company hopes to begin marketing the System for diabetic patients undergoing major surgeries in 2008. The CorRestore System represented 1% of net revenues in the first half of 2006. Due to changes in European regulations, the company expects that CorRestore's contribution will diminish even further.
