Description |
| Shelhigh has developed a detoxification treatment for glutaraldehyde-processed bioprotheses called No-React(r) which has been shown to inhibit tissue calcification and degeneration. Shelhigh manufactures a variety of No-React(r) treated tissue products which are all completely biological, including stentless aortic heart valves and conduits, pulmonic valve conduits, mitral valves and annuloplasty rings, arterial conduits and pericardial patches. |
 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| The No-React® Detoxification Process: Shelhigh has pioneered the No-React® Biomodification (NRB) process, which offers doctors and patients the best of both synthetic and biological tissue implants. The NRB process takes advantage of the benefits of a conventional glutaraldehyde treatment, but successfully makes this process permanent. The tissue is detoxified and hence, biocompatible, but as important, the tissue in non-absorbable and very durable.
Shelhigh No-React®-treated tissues are not recognized as foreign bodies. They not only obviate a foreign-body reaction, but given no subsequent degeneration, the physical characteristics are set before implantation. In sum, the tissue retains its properties, so physicians can be sure that as long as there is no sign of infection the tissue will behave exactly the way both Shelhigh and the surgeon intend. |
