Description
Interventional SpineĀ®, Inc. is a medical device company exclusively focused on the development and marketing of patented percutaneous systems to treat back pain. This less-invasive intervention is intended to bring back pain patients relief earlier in the treatment continuum, minimize patient trauma, lower complication rates and shorten procedure times.
Products / Services
The PerX360 System, developed with the assistance of renowned surgeons in Europe and the United States, is the first and only system in the world capable of providing surgeons the ability to perform a complete 360 degree lumbar interbody fusion via two 15mm percutaneous incisions. The system includes the Optiport access instrumentation and the Opticage interbody. The system was awarded CE Mark approval from its European Union Notified Body in 2011. The Optiport access instrumentation is cleared for use in the United States, and can also be used with conventional interbody cages. A 510K clearance is in process for the Opticage interbody. In addition, the company also has the PERPOS PLS System, the first and only percutaneous transfacet-pedicular compression system to date for posterior stabilization during a fusion procedure of the lumbar (lower) spine; and the PDS System, cleared for use outside of the United States, which is a percutaneous bilateral facet augmentation system for treating degenerative disc disease (DDD), lumbar spinal stenosis and facet pain.
Technology / Differentiation
The PerX360 System is being used in outpatient procedures, under local anesthesia. This is a first for a lumbar fusion procedure. Procedure times average less than 30 minutes.
Market / Customers
According to the National Library of Medicine, an estimated 85% of Americans will experience back problems at some point in their lives, and 5-10% of individuals are suffering from disabling conditions which may ultimately lead to surgery. This surgical market is expected to reach $15.6 billion by 2015. Our technologies can influence 50% of this surgical market.
Status
Interventional Spine announced it is rapidly expanding its business with the introduction of the PerX360 System worldwide. To date, over 8,000 patients have benefitted from Interventional Spine's technologies since 2007.
