| Description |
MedGenesis Therapeutix Inc. is an emerging biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing innovative treatment modalities for patients with serious central nervous system (CNS) diseases. Particularly, MedGenesis develops drug delivery systems that enable the administration of drug therapies to brain regions that currently are not easily targeted. |
| Products / Services |
The MedGenesis Convection Enhanced Delivery (CED) system enables the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents to brain tissue, achieving dose concentrations that normally cannot be attained via systemic administration due to the blood-brain-barrier without incurring intolerable toxicities. When compared with other local drug delivery techniques, such as conventional injection or implantation of drug-containing polymers, CED provides for much wider, more consistent, more homogeneous drug distribution, and longer drug exposure across the target tissue.
| Technology / Differentiation |
| MedGenesis CED technology functions by catheter-based continuous injection of therapeutic agents via positive pressure. Proprietary methodology is used throughout the delivery process, including the selection of therapeutic agents, optimization of catheter placement, delivery via CED, and confirmation of accurate drug delivery in real time. In this manner, brain parenchymal target tissues can be exposed to concentrations of therapeutic agents that exceed those following systemic administration by a factor of up to 100,000. |
| Market / Customers |
Primary target indications for MedGenesis Therapeutix are Parkinson's disease, intractable epilepsy, and glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). These indications are natural targets for CED-based treatment regimens because of the high unmet medical need, specific blood-brain-barrier challenges, and the invasiveness of the diagnostic and therapeutic armentarium that is currently available to patients.
