Description |
| The Radiology Group (TRG) offers a virtual full-service radiology department with a comprehensive range of specialty interpretations, including dictation, final reports and insurance billing. TRG has developed a remote image reading and storage platform with support from its partners, Teleradiology Solutions and Neurostar Solutions, that allows the group to provide more efficient and cost-effective radiology services to hospitals and clinics across the United States. |
 |
| Products / Services |
TRG's platform and services are designed to enhance communication among physicians, accuracy of diagnosis, and efficiency of treatment. The group provides around-the-clock support and remote coverage, accompanied by final reports prepared by board-certified subspecialty radiologists. A site may specifically request after-hours, overnight, and/or 'stat' services with preliminary or final reports. In order to decrease turnaround time without compromising report quality, TRG has prepared over two hundred templates and incorporated voice-recognition software into its network. This remote specialized reading may be delivered to a site lacking an in-house radiology staff, or presented in conjunction with an on-site radiologist.

 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| Neurostar Solutions provides the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) for TRG, known as the Virtual Radiology Network (VRN). The VRN seamlessly integrates images and reports from multiple locations to create a virtual radiology reading room. It can be downloaded from a central server bank and customized, thereby ensuring familiarity and convenience for radiologists wherever they work. Since the VRN connects locations with a standard Internet connection or network, installation is simple and cost-effective. TRG provides efficient and continuous image access from any location via Neurostar's offsite data center. The VRN is also equipped with workload distribution, balancing, and monitoring tools, including dynamic auto-routing (rapidly sends users the appropriate images to their current locations) and Study Life Cycle Management (tracks turnaround times for each study and prioritizes user work lists). |
 |
| Market / Customers |
TRG's services are currently available for various general and subspecialty markets, such as orthopedics, neuroradiology, mammography, and body imaging. The worldwide hospital diagnostic imaging and radiology information system markets were valued at $228.9 million in 2006 and are expected to reach $415.8 million by 2013. Market growth will be strong as more systems are outfitted with electronic patient records.

 |
| Status |
| The group was formally launched in April 2005. In line with its original mission of administering academic care to rural areas, TRG currently works with twenty hospitals and four clinics in Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. It plans to expand into additional markets, including Colorado and Montana, and to develop physician hubs in New York and Miami. TRG also hopes to consolidate all individual hospital systems into a single, web-based platform. |
