| Description |
GetWellNetwork is a privately-held company seeking to provide a comprehensive solution to hospital patient education and entertainment by turning an in-room television monitor into an interactive experience for patients, families, caregivers and administrators. |
| Products / Services |
The PatientLife System contains three main components. First, the Patient Pathways technology streamlines and automates day-to-day patient care processes. It consists of a variety of coordinated, automated prompts appearing on the patient's monitor to invite each patient, at the appropriate time, to learn more about his/her care, condition, and safety as well as other important aspects of his/her hospital visit. Standardized content packages are also included for patient education; while hospitals still have the opportunity to include proprietary or preferred content, the standard content packages are a great addition to any hospital education library. Additionally, a new and improved user interface was designed to improve the overall patient experience and convenience of the system.
| Technology / Differentiation |
| The PatientLife System comprises three integrated software suites for patient resources (e.g., entertainment and connections to the outside world), communication (i.e., between patient and staff, among staff members) and care (e.g., pain assessment, educational materials). They collectively work to establish an interactive patient care environment and personalized care experiences for each patient. As for the GetWellNetwork hardware, the head-end unit is composed of high performance servers designed to support application and database services, private networking, firewall protection, remote access monitoring and system maintenance services. The system also provides support for redundant power supply and surge protection. All components of the system are stored in one complete full height, high-density rack unit. In each patient room, each display device (i.e., television monitor) is equipped with a digital set-top box acting as a controller and conduit between the GetWellNetwork Head-End Hardware and the display device. Patients and other end users access the system via a pillow-speaker and accompanying keyboard for text input; remote controls are also offered. |

Its new features include tools for executive reporting of patient experience data in real time, revenue generation and greater ease-of-use for consumers. As of December 2008, more than two million 'patient pathways' have been launched for individual patients. In 2007, the GetWellNetwork solution received the exclusive endorsement of the American Hospital Association (AHA). |
