Description
ImmunoGenetix Therapeutics is a biotechnology company that develops advanced DNA immunotherapies for HIV infection, thereby offering a promising and relatively inexpensive alternative to anti-HIV drug cocktails. Extensive research indicates that protective immunity against HIV infection may not be possible; while anti-viral therapies such as the HAART (Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy) cocktail have drastically changed the prognosis for patients, HAART requires the administration of over 20 pills per day, can involve serious side effects such as fatal heart disease, is high-cost, and is becoming less effective as drug-resistant strains of HIV develop. ImmunoGenetix’s lead product candidate, GenePro™, induces a robust antibody and cellular immune response in non-human primates, incorporates a proprietary DNA composition that yields high levels of gene expression and non-infectious HIV protein production, necessitates that anti-viral therapies be increased only when virus levels begin to rise, and is anticipated to be less prone to deactivating HIV mutations than HAART. This earlier-stage biotechnology company has completed a comprehensive non-clinical and clinical development plan for GenePro™ and is working toward an IND.

Technology / Differentiation
DNA construct that can generate HIV specific CD8+ memory cells similar to long term non-responders, also called Elite Controllers (EC). EC are those in an estimated 3% of the population who can suppress HIV without having ART drugs on board. It is the promise of this DNA construct, GenePro, to turn HIV+ patients into EC.
Market / Customers
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE ? in a large and growing market ($11B in USA) ImmunoGenetix is the only known company utilizing a consistent lentiviral and highly active SHIV DNA composition to design DNA immunotherapeutic candidates to treat multiple strains of HIV in infected patients. This provides the first immunotherapy capable of treating both local and global HIV strains. Essentially, GenePro? synthetically mimics the virus, so the body can respond appropriately. The competitive advantages of GenePro? include: ? Development of memory immune cells for long-term post infection protection. ? The generation of a robust immune response that can control an AIDS producing viral infection without a viral protein boost and without anti-viral therapy (which other DNA-based immunotherapeutics require); Taking into consideration the possibility of reducing dependence on HAART, or eliminating its use, in a controlled and safe manner, one can see the potential for blockbuster status with GenePro?. The science supports the path to the market.
