AVR118 represents a new type of biopolymer chemistry that also possesses novel immunomodulator activity. This non-toxic peptide-nucleic acid, which to date has shown no indication of human toxicity, appears to stimulate the proinflammatory responses required to combat viral infections such as AIDS and human papilloma virus and to dampen aberrant autoimmune-type inflammatory responses.

| In December 2004 ADVR announced an IND approval for AVR118 by the United States Food and Drug Administration. This allows the company to conduct a Phase II clinical trial in the United States. The study will examine the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of AVR118 in patients with advanced cancer who are suffering from symptoms of progressive disease. |
