Qatar's first biotechnology and medical research company will introduce some of the most innovative healthcare products and data management systems here. It is establishing a laboratory that will initially focus on developing diagnostic tools and treatments for chronic diseases. |

These include Non-invasive Blood Glucose Measuring System and Innovative Blood Filtration System. The company also plans to set up a Patient Data Management System for the region. The non-invasive measuring device for determining blood glucose will be a sensor bracelet and a PDU connection via radio or blue tooth. The device will be used mainly for monitoring infants and people with blood clotting disorders.The blood filtration system uses molecular biology for the treatment of inflammatory and other allergic problems, can be used for treatment of septicaemia, and has successfully passed clinical trials and hospital use.

| SMARD is a subsidiary of the German companies KMG AG and iSIMA, which have close relations with universities in Tuebingen and others clinics and universities in Germany and Austria. It is expanding collaborations to universities in the Middle East with Cairo University and Menoufeya University in Egypt, as well as other international hospitals and R&D institutes. |
