| Description |
PaxVax is biotech vaccine company with a mission to develop and commercialize innovative vaccines for global impact against major infectious diseases (i.e. flu, malaria, HIV) in a socially responsible manner. |
| Products / Services |
PaxVax has developed a novel and proprietary oral vaccine technology platform based on a common virus called adenovirus. The platform includes rapid, scalable all disposable manufacturing processes and formulations resulting in room temperature stability at low cost. PaxVax?s oral vaccines represent a potential industry breakthrough with particular benefits to the developing world. This technology removes the delivery hurdles of traditional injectable vaccines, namely the need for cold storage, needles, and administration by medical personnel. PaxVax?s vaccines can also be produced in record speed, in large quantities, and at low expense, i.e. compared to traditional egg-based vaccines such as those against seasonal or pandemic flu. Vaccination by the oral route rather than injection may also yield a more robust immune response and enable vaccination against diseases that have historically been intransigent to traditional vaccine development methods.

| Technology / Differentiation |
| PaxVax has a unique technology that may enable safe, effective, and inexpensive, single-dose vaccines in pill form rather than by injection. These vaccines could have high margins in the First World and could be affordable in the Third World. |
| Status |
| The Company is currently enrolling subjects in a proof of concept trial of its oral Bird Flu (H5N1) vaccine. PaxVax hopes to register and begin selling its oral flu vaccine pills as early as 2011. PaxVax is raising a Series B after the current trial concludes. Current investors include the Wellcome Trust and Ignition Partners. PaxVax will raise a Series B in Q1 2010. |
