| Description |
On March 16, 2009, PanOptica's co-founders, Paul Chaney, past president of OSI Eyetech, and Martin Wax MD, who formerly headed Pharmaceutical R&D at Alcon, began operating as a newly formed private biopharma company called PanOptica, Inc. The company, backed by SV LifeSciences, completed an extensive search and identified a number of compelling differentiated leads sourced from bio-pharma partners. The company reached agreement and recently completed evaluation of 3 leads spanning the indications of wet-AMD and diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and ocular analgesia. It also recently agreed to terms for 2 leads for glaucoma. |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| PanOptica researches opportunities and assesses them for potential licensing or will acquire the rights to further develop these products. While large pharmaceutical companies are often highly effective at manufacturing and distributing new pharmaceutical agents, they often look to smaller biotechnology specialty companies such as PanOptica as a source for their potentially innovative new products. |
| Status |
| The company aims to create a portfolio of 3 clinical stage programs, and continues to seek additional candidates against well-characterized targets with credible clinical/regulatory paths to registration. PanOptica?s goal is to mature its lead candidates to human clinical proof of concept within approximately 2 years. |
