| Description |
|
Bentley Pharmaceuticals, Inc. specializes in the development of products based on innovative and proprietary drug delivery systems, which also manufactures, markets and distributes pharmaceutical products for international markets through its European operating subsidiary. The Company owns rights to certain U.S. and international patents and related technology for enhancing the absorption of a wide range of drugs delivered to biological tissues and has concentrated its focus in 1999 on a strategy to improve and commercialize its unique drug delivery technology. This technology is based on FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) compounds which not only set Bentleyís technology apart from other drug delivery technology but should also reduce the time required in pre-clinical evaluation and the path to commercialization. |

| Products / Services |
Testim is a gel indicated for testosterone replacement therapy which restores serum testosterone levels in men and thereby improves symptoms of health problems associated with low testosterone levels (hypogonadism), including loss of muscle mass and a decrease in sexual desire, sexual motivation and frequency of spontaneous erections.

| Technology / Differentiation |
| CPE-215 technology enables the absorption of drugs across membranes of the skin, mouth, nose, vagina and eye. CPE-215 technology can be incorporated into a wide variety of pharmaceutical formats and products, including those formulated as creams, ointments, gels, solutions, lotions, sprays or patches. CPE-215 has a record of safety in humans as a food additive and fragrance and received its first approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2002 as the delivery system in the Testim testosterone replacement gel. |

The worldwide market for drugs delivered by transdermal and transmucosal methods now exceeds $4 billion and has an annual growth rate of 25%.
|
 |
| Strategy |
Partners and licensees would assume the major portion of development costs and compensate Bentley with upfront fees, milestone payments and royalties. The Company will also seek to develop proprietary lines of products at its own formulation laboratory in Exeter, New Hampshire in conjunction with the research departments of various universities. The key methods of delivery Bentley has targeted for potential applications of its technology include transdermal, intranasal (mucosal), oral, ocular, vaginal, buccal/sublingual, suppositories and inhalation.
