| Strategy |
Biosource International already has agreements with many individual scientists, universities, research institutes and biotechnology companies covering the commercialization of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vectors, ELISA reagents, antibody labels etc. These agreements include the outright purchase of reagents as well as nonexclusive and exclusive licenses. Licenses generally involve an up-front payment plus royalty on the sales of products containing the licensed reagent. Most institutions have an Office of Technology Transfer that helps with the negotiations and finalizing the written agreement. Besides the financial benefits of the program, researchers are released from the administrative burden of providing samples and technical information to other scientists. In addition, Biosource's quality control department insures lot to lot reproducibility of transferred reagents thus eliminating a variable in the interpretation of data.
