Products / Services
Stryker Orthopaedics develops, manufactures, and markets a complete line of orthopaedic reconstructive products that include replacement hips and knees, upper extremity implants, bone cement, bone substitutes, and proteins to speed bone healing. Products include: Reflex, Tether, Oasys, XIA, VBOSS, Ray Threaded Fusion Cage, Ray TFC/Unite System, BoneCraft, AlloCraft PL, Surgical Simplex P Bone Cement with Tobramycin, OP-1, and others.
Technology / Differentiation
OP-1. OP-1, also known as BMP-7, is a member of a class of naturally occurring growth factors called Bone Morphogenetic Proteins. OP-1 Implant is known to induce new bone formation in both developing and mature skeletal systems. Initially discovered in 1965 by Marshal Urist, BMP's are the only known proteins capable of inducing new bone formation. For over 10 years, Stryker Biotech has been specifically dedicated to the research and development of BMP-7. The FDA approved OP-1 Implant and op-1 Putty under the Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE). OP-1 Implant is now available across the country and is indicated for use as an alternative to the patients own bone (autograft) in recalcitrant long bone nonunions where autograft is not feasible and alternative treatments have failed. OP-1 Putty is indicated in Revision Spinal Fusions where autograft is unfeasible.
