| The PCM (Porous Coated Motion) Cervical Disc features a large radius UHMW polyethylene bearing surface attached to the lower endplate, the PCM is designed to allow translational motion in an arc consistent with the natural motion of the cervical spine segment. The theoretical advantages held by an artificial cervical disc implant over fusion are: the ability to maintain normal neck motion, reduced degeneration of adjacent segments of the cervical spine, eliminated need for a bone graft, early postoperative neck motion, and a faster return to normal activity. |
