| Description |
|
Depomed, Inc. is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on enhancing pharmaceutical products. Since its founding in August 1995, the company has advanced two products to market and has developed a pipeline with late-stage product opportunities intended to address common medical conditions affecting large patient populations. At the core of Depomed is AcuForm delivery technology, a unique, patented, polymer-based technology designed to optimize drug delivery through gastric retention. AcuForm technology allows for targeted, extended release of pharmaceutical ingredients to the upper gastrointestinal tract, which allows for increased bioavailability, less frequent dosing, and fewer side effects than seen with other formulations. |
 |
| Products / Services |
Depomed's products are designed to provide once daily administration and reduced gastrointestinal side effects, improving patient convenience, compliance and pharmacokinetic profiles.

| Strategy |
Depomed's lead products, Metformin GR, is currently undergoing a second Phase III trial for the treatment of Type II diabetes and the company anticipates filing an NDA with partner Biovail in the first half of 2004. Depomed is also conducting a Phase III trial with its once faily antibiotic Ciprofloxacin GR for the treatment of urinary tract infections, which is expected toe complete in early 2004. Depomed has successfully completed Phase I clinical trials and is planning Phase II trials with controlled-release diuretic Furosemide GR and pain/seizure drug Gabapentin GR. Depomed also has a strong preclinical pipeline of proprietary and co-development products based on off-patent and over-the-counter drugs.Depomed's GR System can be tailored to exciting new drug combinations of varying properties, either simultaneously or sequentially, for an array of products possibilities. Through partnerships and independent product development programs, Depomed is solving complex drug delivery problems, with the opportunity of extending patent life for valuable medicines and building pharmaceutical pipelines. Depomed's proprietary technologies are protected by six issued United States patents and fourteen United States patent applications are pending.
