Description
Entropin, Inc. is a pharmaceutical research and development company focused on the development of its proprietary compound, ENT-103, as a potent therapy for pain. Preclinical work shows that ENT-103, effectively blocks nerve impulse conduction, has potentially long-lasting properties to reduce and manage pain, and may also be effective in relieving both primary and secondary hyperalgesia (pain hypersensitivity) caused either by injury or incision.
Products / Services
In preclinical tests, ENT-103 demonstrated characteristics that are unique when compared to pain therapies currently on the market. Early tests indicate that ENT-103 is effective as both an anesthetic and analgesic. Additionally, ENT-103 formulated with a proprietary absorption enhancer and applied directly to the skin, showed analgesic activity in a penetration - dependent fashion. The Company believes this result indicates that ENT-103 may be successfully delivered through the skin, a characteristic that may further expand market opportunities.
Market / Customers
Total sales worldwide in 2000 for prescription drugs to treat pain-$21.6 billion. U.S. prevalence (total number of patients with the medical problem) of chronic pain - 85.1 million; and U.S. incidence (total number of occurrences of a medical problem) of acute pain - 192.7 million.
Strategy
The Companys strategic focus will be to continue to pursue regulatory approval for its lead product, ENT-103. In order to achieve this objective, the Company intends to seek additional funding to support its operations. The Company may also pursue alliances with healthcare companies that could provide development funding.
Status
Assuming that the clinical trials are successful, the Company estimates that it will take between four and five years to complete the clinical development of ENT-103 so that it can be commercialized. The earliest time at which the Company may expect to generate revenue from ENT-103 under a licensing or similar arrangement is following the announcement of Phase I clinical trial results, which may be in late 2005, assuming the clinical trial results are positive, the Company does not experience any delays and that the Company is able to find a licensing partner at that time.
