Technology / Differentiation
The Company's platform technology, Thymus Nuclear Protein (TNP) is a processed extract of mammalian thymus tissue. The Company's lead drug candidate, VGV-1 is a treatment for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). VGV-1 is a purified extract of mammalian thymus tissue.
Market / Customers
The Company is targeting the growing HIV and AIDS therapeutics market. Studies indicate that 70% of patients receiving standard Highly-Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) are resistant to one or more classes of HIV/AIDS drugs and 11-18% are resistant to three classes of antiretrovirals.
Status
The primary endpoints of its clinical trials have included human CD4+ T cell counts; viral load in plasma using PCR-RNA (polymerase chain reaction), and clinical condition, including standard blood testing and body weight. No significant adverse effects related to VGV-1 have been noted.
