Products / Services
Omapro (Omacetaxine mepesuccinate) is a first-in-class small molecule which as a single agent is being evaluated in clinical trials in a range of hematological malignancies. Omapro has a novel mode of action, and induces apoptosis by inhibition of protein synthesis, particularly Mcl-1. As Omapro acts independently of tyrosine kinase inhibitors, it may have therapeutic advantages for patients who have developed resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy. Omapro is administered subcutaneously. Quinamed (amonafide dihydrochloride) is a synthetic organic compound with established anti-cancer clinical activity. We have recently discovered that amonafide affects a number of targets in the EGFR pathway. In NCI-sponsored clinical studies with amonafide monohydrochloride, response rates as high as 25% were observed in breast cancer. However, researchers also noted some unpredictable side effects. It was later discovered that differences in how patients metabolize the drug has a significant impact on toxicities. These metabolic differences can now be determined by testing a patients NAT2 genotype.

Strategy
Our business strategy is to develop targeted therapeutics for the treatment of chronic diseases by exploiting our understanding of genetic variations associated with disease formation, drug response, or both. In doing so, we believe we will benefit patients and create value for stockholders.
