The company sells two models of its temporary heart assist product: the BVS 5000 Biventricular Support System and the newer AB5000 Circulatory Support System. In Europe, Abiomed offers the IMPELLA RECOVER minimally invasive cardiovascular support systems under CE Mark approval. The IMPELLA 5.0 and 2.5 are in pilot studies in the United States. Other IMPELLA devices are not yet available for sale in the United States. The Company's AbioCor Implantable Replacement Heart is now available under a Humanitarian Device Exemption granted by the United States Food and Drug Administration. | The BVS and AB5000 systems each consist of single-use external blood pumps and cannulae and a reusable pneumatic drive and control console.
