| Description |
|
Endocare, Inc. is developing minimally invasive technologies for tissue and tumor ablation. Endocare has initially concentrated on developing cryoablation (freezing) technologies for the treatment of prostate cancer and believes that its proprietary technologies have broad applications across a number of markets, including the ablation of tumors in the kidney, lung and liver as well as palliative intervention (treatment of pain associated with metastases). The company's operations are fully integrated, from R&D to manufacturing to marketing and direct sales. |

| Products / Services |
Cryoablation is a minimally invasive means of destroying cancerous and other target tissues in a non-toxic manner without the use of open surgery, radiation or dangerous chemicals. Cryocare CS is a fully integrated planning, placement and treatment system designed to simplify cryoablation while making it more flexible and precise. Cryocare CS is designed to meet specific physician needs through innovative, user-friendly technology that allow the user to plan and execute targeted ablation in all areas of the anatomy. The V-probe Variable Cryoprobe is a next-generation technology that allows physicians to adjust the length of the isotherm to fit the target tissue. V-probe works with Endocare's intraoperative prostate planning software to calculate cryoprobe placement and iceball length and can also be used to address other tumors in the kidney, liver, lung and bone.

 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| One key element of the FDA-cleared Cryocare CS system is the AutoFreeze, a computer-controlled automated freezing mechanism that utilizes optimal power settings based upon target endpoint temperatures and continual feedback from the thermocouple tips. Along with AutoFreeze, Cryocare CS includes Integrated Ultrasound technology that provides internal visualization of the prostate gland and patented CryoGuide planning software that assists physicians in determining optimal treatment of the entire gland. Cryoablation also has natural anesthetic qualities and the ability to precisely control tissue destruction, unlike certain competitive ablation and surgical technologies. These qualities can lead to fewer side effects and better post-procedure quality of life. |
 |
| Market / Customers |
Endocare's cryoablation technology platforms are marketed and sold by a direct-sales force to urologists and interventional radiologists. To date, the majority of sales have been to physicians for medium to high-risk prostate and renal cancer patients. The combined markets for Endocare, as defined by the incidence of operable prostate, kidney, liver and metastatic bone cancers exceed $500 million annually.

| Status |
| Endocare announced that it had agreed to merge with Israel-based Galil Medical in November 2008, a move that will result in a company with approximately $55 million in TTM revenues. |
