| Description |
Pathfinder Therapeutics, Inc. develops image-guided surgical systems that allow physicians to perform more efficient and accurate therapeutic procedures, thereby significantly improving patient outcomes. |
| Products / Services |
Pathfinder's SurgiSight Linasys product is an image-guided liver surgery system that is functionally similar to a GPS unit for liver surgery. Relative probe positions and optical sensors work together to map different anatomical positions on patients' MRI and CT medical images. The resulting composite image enables physicians to more precisely localize tumors or particular anatomical structures.
| Technology / Differentiation |
| Pathfinder's SurgiSight surgery system consists of a localization probe with infrared emitting device (IRED) and a three-lens optical sensor (infrared camera), as well as a display monitor, computer, and laser range scanner. IREDs are activated in sequence and detected by a NDI Certus Position Sensor. Relative probe characterization pinpoints the exact relationship between the different IREDs, thereby enabling the position sensor to determine probe positions and orientations. Probes are then pivoted about their tips and the exact tip location is determined. Finally, this tip position is translated into image space coordinates and displayed on a computer monitor using the ORION software platform. A composite image including the patient's separate medical images is then produced. |
