Description
Mystic is an integrated specialty pharmaceutical company collaborating with pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers to combine its novel drug delivery systems with a pipeline of pharmaceuticals, biologics and vaccines in an effort to simplify self-administration of drugs, develop preservative-free unit dose packaging and ensure reliable precision dosing and enhanced compliance for end users.
Products / Services
Mystic provides two unit dose delivery platforms, the Veridoser Platform and VRx2 Platform, that can accommodate a variety of drug compounds and biological agents. Platforms include unit dose blister technology, delivery systems and aseptic unit dose blister production systems. The company is also developing an intranasal vaccine delivery system for pandemic and bioterror applications.
Technology / Differentiation
Mystic's VeriDoser Drug Delivery platform utilizes proprietary form fill manufacturing to produce sterile, preservative free, liquid filled unit dose blisters in combination with proprietary ophthalmic, intranasal, and reconstitution drug delivery devices, creating a delivery system that provides a more precise, safer, convenient and cost-effective solution for ophthalmic and systemic intranasal drug delivery of pharmaceuticals, biologics and vaccines. Mystic is also developing the VRx2 Delivery Platform for simplified delivery of drugs or biologics that require reconstitution prior to administration.
Market / Customers
The company's target markets include the global ophthalmic market for anterior eye drug delivery (glaucoma, dry eye, allergy, infection, inflammation and macular degeneration) projected to be worth $12 billion to $15 billion with a CAGR of 10%. Potential customers include the major ophthalmic drug manufacturers (Alcon, Pfizer, Allergan, Vistakon, Novartis, Merck, Bausch & Lomb, GSK) as well as specialty ophthalmic pharmaceutical manufacturers. Intranasal delivery markets include pain management, migraine, growth deficiency, anti-seizure and emesis.
Status
The company expects to conduct its next clinical trial in July 2009 and anticipates the first commercial product launch in 2011. The company is presently seeking Series B funding to supplement its $1.56 million investment from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund in May 2009.
