POSiFECT? RD Wound Care Dressing is a disposable one-time use dressing that will be launched in Europe in the coming months. They are individually wrapped sterile dressings are designed to be used as part of a short treatment regime.

The product concept will involve the development of a disposable, one time use, sterile active dressing which, when applied regularly to the wound site, will foster and expedite the normally occurring wound healing process and facilitate healing in difficult to heal wounds.

The global wound care market is estimated at $12 billion Diabetic foot ulcers appear in about 15% of the diabetic foot population, which translates into over one million incidences annually in the US alone. Venous stasis ulcers leg ulcers are the most common form of leg ulcers. An estimated 2.5 million people are affected in the US costing health systems approximately $2.5 to $3.5 billion per year to treat.

Strategy
To ensure a competitve edge Biofisica aims to make thier product simple in design, construction and ease of use. They also plan to make it affordable, safe, and its efficacy will differentiate it from its competitors. It will be produced with existing manufacturing technologies. Biofisica intends on using economies of scale and modern established manufacturing processes to realize maximum production efficiencies to make development and production costs relatively low. Biofisica has partnered with a medical device firm to distribute, market and sell its products, overall operating efficiencies will be optimized. Biofisica hopes that all their efforts will result in a very low final product cost to the end user and a more feasible wound treatment alternative for the caregiver.
