Description |
| Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. commercializes stem cell products from adult bone marrow. Stem cells have demonstrated the ability to repair different types of tissues and regulate inflammatory responses, as well as prevent tissue destruction. Osiris is conducting several clinical trials for product development in several therapeutic areas in efforts to treat immune-mediated diseases, cardiovascular indications and orthopedic ailments.

| Products / Services |
Osiris currently markets and sells Osteocel(R) for regenerating bone in orthopedic indications. Prochymal(TM) is in Phase III clinical trials and is the only stem cell therapeutic currently designated by FDA as both an "Orphan Drug" and "Fast Track" product. The company's pipeline of internally developed biologic drug candidates under evaluation also includes Chondrogen(TM) (for the reduction of pain and prevention of disease progression in patients with osteoarthritis) and Prochymal(TM) (for repairing heart tissue following a heart attack).
| Technology / Differentiation |
| Osiris' technology is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Arnold Caplan and his colleagues at Case Western Reserve University. They showed that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), the active agent in all of Osiris' products, can engraft and selectively differentiate to various lineages based on the tissue environment (i.e. muscle, bone, cartilage, marrow stroma, tendon and fat). These MSCs also have the ability to regulate the immune system, repair damaged tissue, and prevent the formation of scar tissue.

| Market / Customers |
The global market for stem cell therapy is expected to be $20 billion by 2010.
| Funding |
| The lead investor of the company is Friedli Corporate Finance. Since its inception, Friedli Corporate Finance has invested in over 170 biotechnology and technology companies, primarily based in the US. |
| Status |
| Osiris is a fully integrated company, having developed stem cell capabilities in research and development, manufacturing, marketing and distribution. Osiris has developed an extensive intellectual property portfolio to protect the company's technology in the United States and in a number of foreign countries, including 46 U.S. and 165 foreign patents owned or licensed. In May 2008, Osiris announced the treatment of the first patients in a new Phase II clinical trial evaluating Prochymal for moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This trial marks the sixth indication for which Prochymal has been advanced into Phase II or later-stage clinical trials. |
