Description
SRS Medical designs, manufactures and markets proprietary medical devices for the analysis of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and for conservative treatments of urinary incontinence. The company's management team averages 20+ years experience in the urology/gynecology market and in medical devices manufacturing. SRS Medical's products are protected by 23 U.S. patents and counterparts, with additional patents in-process.
Products / Services
SRS medical provides an array of diagnostic and therapeutic devices for the analysis and treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms and disease, respectively. These devices include: The standard EasyFlo and advanced EasyPro systems that provide urodymamics analysis; Orion, Regain, and Sensor/Electrode systems that provide biofeedback to clinicians; 4-Conti and Gemini systems that provide neurostimulation to muscle in order to improve muscle strength and re-learn natural reflexes; Uroscope system for transurethral injection procedures; and the In-Flow Catheter, StepFree Cones, and C3 Clamps for treatment of urinary incontinence. Together, this product line provides physicians with a full range of urology patient care tools, ranging from the point of examination and up until treatment.
Technology / Differentiation
SRS takes advantage of its personnel's extensive experience in urology and gynecology to produce cutting edge devices that provide unmet needs in these fields. For instance, the In-Flow device addresses one of the most significant problems in urologic practice: how to provide safe, effective and dignified bladder drainage, particularly for extended periods. Using a miniature pump based drainage system, rather than the passive drainage via gravity currently used by catheters to drain the bladder, the In-Flow ensures the bladder is fully emptied thereby maintaining the bodies normal flush system that protects against the buildup of bacteria and infection. This technology has produced the lowest urinary tract infection rate of any indwelling device and provides the highest quality of life. Another prime example is the UroScope, which is the first injector with a patented rotatable sheath that allows for the improved treatment of stress urinary incontinence. By producing innovative devices such as these, SRS raises the bar and sets the standard in urological diagnostics and treatments.
Market / Customers
The Urinary Incontinence market alone is set to grow over the next four years reaching an estimated value of $2.5 billion by 2012. Furthermore the world market for urodynamics devices is anticipated to grow 3% from the years 2008-2013, and SRS is a major role player in the business
Status
In late 2006, the company moved its east and west Coast operations to expanded facilities in order to support ongoing and anticipated growth. In January 2006, SRS Medical acquired all assets related to devices for the treatment of severe female incontinence from Eutech Medical AB of Gothenburg, Sweden. In October 2003, SRS Medical acquired all assets related to the Timm Medical urodynamic products and certain incontinence treatment devices from Endocare. Prior to that, the company acquired substantially all assets of Asbrook/Eris, a Ventura, CA, manufacturer of urodynamic products, and the In-Flow device from American Medical Systems.
