Description |
| Symphony Medical, a privately held company, produces biocompatible polymers and cell therapies that serve as treatments for patients suffering from heart disease, including cardiac arrhythmias. These therapies are delivered directly during open heart surgery, or via minimally invasive procedures. Symphony's products are classified by the FDA as therapies that have clear regulatory pathways and targeted clinical end points. |

| Products / Services |
Plexisyl-AF, the companys initial product, serves as a biopolymer therapeutic remedy for preventing sustained post-operative atrial fibrillation, which is a common side effect of both coronary artery bypass grafting and cardiac valve replacement surgeries. Symphonys Algisyl-LVR is a biopolymer based prophylactic method used to treat chronic congestive heart failure by maintaining the integrity of the hearts structural dynamics, which prevents the pathological progression of the disease. Additionally, a third treatment under development by Symphony aims to use regulatory cellular and biopolymer agents as pace making modulators to treat atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias.

 |
| Technology / Differentiation |
| Symphony's products utilize proprietary biopolymers and cell therapies to treat patients with a variety of heart disturbances. Plexisyl-AF functions via a biopolymer that is injected into neurological stimulatory relay centers of the heart that have shown to transmit deleterious stimulus to the hearts pacemaker causing atrial fibrillation. Algisyl-LVR uses a biopolymer that is strategically injected into diseased dilated hearts to reshape the left ventricular wall, providing a reduction in wall stress tone to improve cardiac function and treat congestive heart failure. Symphonys newest product employs therapeutic cellular or biopolymer components delivered by catheter to the pacemaker region of the heart to regulate heart rate and rhythm in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. Symphonys use of biopolymers and cellular mediums to treat cardiac disease is cutting edge, providing means to address these ailments by non-ablative methods and without the systemic side effects of pharmacological treatments. |

| Market / Customers |
Atrial Fibrillation, the treatment goal of Plexisyl-AF and Symphonys newest product, is the most common of cardiac abnormalities with an estimated 2.3 million Americans diagnosed. Treatment of this disease in post-operative patients alone targets 600,000 cardiac surgical procedures representing an annual U.S. market of $260 million. Congestive heart failure, the treatment goal of Algisyl-LVR, is estimated to affect more than 5 million Americans and is the cause of 300,00 yearly deaths. More than 2 million of these cases have the potential to be treated by Symphonys Algisyl-LVR .

| Status |
| Symphony has announced two U.S. clinical studies for 2008 that include a first-in-man study for Algisyl-LVR and a pivotal trial for the post-operative product Plexisyl-AF. In addition, on January of this year Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Symphony Medical, Inc. announced an exclusive licensing agreement to employ one of Angiotech's proprietary PEG-based biomaterials as part of a prophylactic therapy to mitigate post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF). On August of 2007 Symphony announced the expansion of its senior management team naming Sam L. Helgerson, Ph.D as the Vice President of Research and Development, Bob Peterson as the Director of R&D, and Rena S. Juliar as the Director of Product Development. Symphony holds approximately $20 million in venture financing, and conducts a majority of its research in University settings or commercial laboratories in an effort to implement the most cost-efficient product development approach. |
