A key goal of the Finance Forum is to provide strategic insight on financing alternatives and other topics of importance to emerging companies from leading experts in the field.

Personalized Medicine. Personalized medicine: the tailoring of treatment to a patient’s genetic profi le is a term known scientifi cally as pharmacogenomics. But what does this term mean to patients? And what does it mean to the industry if we are to move away from the One Size fits all model? An analysis of this emerging science will be led by the thinkers leading its evolution and the companies shaping its future. Tuesday 3:00 p.m..

 
Diagnostics. Technical advances coupled with macro trends influencing healthcare - aging of the population, increasing cost of health care, rise in consumerism, and increased cost of drug development - has resulted in growing interest among investors in the diagnostics space. Th is panel will discuss recent advances in diagnostics and how these will infl uence both the economics of health care as well as investment. Tuesday 1:30 p.m..

The format will range from small group workshops to larger group presentations, depending upon interest. Each will deliver high-level content with significant take-away value. Audio files (mp3) and transcripts will be available to attendees and OMP members.

1. All about PIPES. Private Investments in Public Equities; the role they can and have played in financing the emerging company. This session will review recent regulatory changes that may impact their use. Case studies of several PIPE transactions will be discussed. Monday at 9:15 a.m..

2. Negotiating the Venture Term Sheet. This session will examine the core principals of the term sheet, preferred stock structuring and strategies for negotiating term sheets that make sense for both companies and investors. Monday at 11:00 and Tuesday at 9:45 a.m..

3. State Sponsored Venture Capital. Governments and regional economic development groups are increasingly hungry to attract high wage jobs and are offering considerable incentives to medical technology companies. A look at this approach in Austin, Texas. Tuesday at 11:10 a.m..  

4. Reverse Mergers. As an alternative to going public, the reverse merger into a shell company has gained popularity in recent years and has proven to be an effective financing option for emerging healthcare companies.

5. Monetizing your Investment. Finding a corporate partner to acquire your company or purchase your technology, whether in license or out license, is an increasingly useful means to monetize a closely held company. Experts discuss the alternatives. Monday 4:00 p.m..
