The ultimate commercialization in high-impact eye care companies (ForSight VISION companies). Program/Products/Services A 12,000 square foot facility includes development and prototyping labs, clean room facilities and administrative offices, and is equipped with state of the art development tools. The ForSight VISION companies are initially co-located with ForSight Labs until their growth merits their own facility. At any given time, two or three companies may exist at the Menlo Park location sharing infrastructure and the benefits of other synergies. Customers/Clients Transcend Medical, Inc. is focused on the research and development of novel devices for the treatment of glaucoma, the leading cause of adult irreversible blindness. Over two million people in the U.S. alone are afflicted with the disease today and the numbers are expected to grow to three million by the year 2020. The Transcend approach is focused on replacing the current therapies for the treatment of glaucoma with a less invasive procedure. ForSight Newco II (ForSight VISION2) is developing a proprietary ocular punctal plug drug delivery system. Punctal plugs are a non-invasive drug delivery system capable of delivering a variety of drugs to the eye over time through controlled release to the tear film. Sustained release punctal plugs could potentially replace eye drops for glaucoma, dry eye, allergies and postoperative care, which represent a $6 billion market. In addition, plugs may provide a more effective, convenient and reliable treatment alternative that could ultimately improve patient compliance with their medication and outcomes for their disease. FORSIGHT VISION3 is evaluating a variety of technologies to address important unmet patient needs in key ophthalmic markets.
