Description

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County's business Incubator and Accelerator (part of bwetch@UMBC Research and Technology Park) is home to more than 20 start-up and emerging high-tech and bioscience companies. UMBC's Incubator also operates an Idea Lab to help UMBC students and faculty develop businesses.bwtech@UMBCResearch Park is a 41-acre research and technology community at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Program/Products/Services

The Research Park has a total development capacity of 350,000 square feet of office and laboratory space. The park comprises five new state-of-the-art buildings occupied by research and technology firms. The park will house 1,500 jobs when fully built out. The firms have access to university expertise, students, technology, programs and facilities. The services available at the incubator include: Assisting companies with preparing a comprehensive business plan; Providing formal business plan reviews; Assessing strengths and weaknesses of companies; Recruiting, qualifying and organizing professional mentors and external professional resources for clients; and Collaborating with UMBC's Office of Technology Development in supporting business development for faculty.

Customers/Clients

Amethyst Technologies, LLC has services to offer all entities that manufacture parenterals or pharmaceuticals, perform aseptic filling, manufacture medical devices, treat patients, build laboratories, provide blood bank services, manufacture veterinary medicines, and perform animal testing. Amethyst provides cGMP compliant, custom, creative, and cost effective services (4Cs) for FDA regulated activities to increase its customers' profitability, ensure compliance, and promote patient safety. APEX/ECLIPSE Systems, Inc. focuses its R&D efforts on improving interception and processing of transmitted signals, regardless of transmission media or communication protocols employed. Aurora Analytics, LLC is focused on the development and manufacture of innovative consumer and research diagnostic products based on a proprietary amine modification/detection technology.
