The Society for Neuroscience is a nonprofit membership organization of basic scientists and physicians who study the brain and nervous system. Recognizing the field's tremendous potential, the Society was formed in 1969. It has grown from 500 members to more than 37,500 and is the world's largest organization of scientists devoted to the study of the brain.
The Society's primary goal is to promote the exchange of information among researchers. To this end, it publishes the scholarly journal The Journal of Neuroscience and holds an annual meeting each fall that attracts attendees from around the globe.
