Thomas Loarie

    Mr. Thomas M. Loarie served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mercator MedSystems, Inc. an early-stage company focused on devices to treat vascular disorders. Mr. Loarie has participated in the healthcare industry for 34 years and founded more than 20 medical devices to market worldwide. Mr. Loarie served as the President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of KeraVision inc., since September 1987. He also served as an Advisor to Occulogix, which is developing treatments for age-related eye disease. From 1985 until joining KeraVision, he served as the President of ABA BioManagement, a management service firm specializing in medical technology start-ups, and as President of Novacor Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of cardiovascular implants from 1984 to 1985. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer of Novacor, Inc. Prior to 1984, Mr. Loarie held management positions in four divisions of American Hospital Supply Corporation, now Baxter International, a manufacturer of healthcare products, and the President of American Heyer-Schulte Division, where he was responsible for bringing several new implantable devices to the markets of neurosurgery, oncology, urology, plastic surgery and wound management as well as rebuilding American Heyer-Schulte’s international business. Mr. Loarie serves as an Executive Chairman of Mercator MedSystems. He was a co-founder of CardioProfile, Inc. and served as its Chairman. Mr. Loarie has been a Director of Clarity Medical Systems Inc., since June 6, 2006. He served as a Director of KeraVision, Inc. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Creighton University Medical School, Chairman-elect and Board Member of Advanced Medical Technology Association. He serves as a Director of the Health Industry Manufacturers Association and of the California Healthcare Institute. Mr. Loarie holds a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and has completed graduate work in Business Administration at the Universities of Chicago and Minnesota.
