May 17, 2012 TASE & NASDAQ Biomed Industry Investor Conference

On Thursday, May 17, 2012 the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) in conjunction with NASDAQ will hold an investor conference in New York focusing on life science industries. The conference will be held in the Times Square NASDAQ building and will begin with an opening bell ceremony presided by NASDAQ and TASE officials, as well as by the executives of 10 participating Israeli “biomed” companies. The purpose of the conference is to bring leading TASE and NASDAQ-listed Israeli biomed firms together with American investors specializing in life science investments. This is the second biomed conference held by TASE and NASDAQ; the previous conference attracted dozens of American investors and analysts covering this field.

Biomed constitutes one of the most challenging, yet promising, growth sectors in the Israeli economy and its capital market. Close to 60 biomed companies are currently listed on TASE. The conference will expose foreign investors to the vast potential engendered in investments in this field.

10 Israeli companies will take part in the conference, delivering presentations, participating in panels and conducting one-on-one meetings with U.S. investors:

  • Aposense
  • BioLineRx
  • Clal Biotechnology
  • Compugen
  • Evogene
  • Itamar Medical
  • PhotoMedex
  • Pluristem Therapeutics
  • Prolor Biotech
  • Protalix Biotherapeutics

The conference will include a presentation by guest speaker, Mr. Israel Makov, former Chairman and CEO of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and currently chairman of the board of biomed companies: Given Imaging, BioLight and Micromedic.

TASE CEO, Ester Levanon, emphasizes the important role TASE plays in developing Israel’s biomed industries: “Close to 60 biomed companies are currently listed on TASE, making it one of the leading exchanges for biotech and medical device companies. We view broadening the exposure of Israel’s biomed companies among foreign investors as one of our primary functions. This conference, held in conjunction with NASDAQ, underscores the strategic cooperation between our two exchanges and is but one of the measures taken by TASE to promote awareness of Israeli technology industries in Israel and abroad.”
